Does anybody have a link to the site where a fellow cut a TR3 down the middle and widened the car about 8" for his V8 project?

Randy is a friend of mine and is a retired shop teacher with crazy good skills doing this sort of thing. Take a look at
> Randy Schultz's Triumph TR3 "Plus 4" Project, Part 1 < (there are 3 episodes).

On a drive we took - a Panther J72, my Jamaican MGA (V6 power) and Randy's TR

Not that it has much to do with Randy's amazing car, but the TR2/3 is narrow. Mine is too narrow for my scissor lift. If my google search is correct, it is also 4 inches narrower (track measure) than the MGA and 5 inches narrower overall than the A40 Austin. Not surprisingly it's a good 2 feet narrower than a Lincoln Continental of the same vintage.

If you hang around Randy's car for a little bit, it just looks right and original TR3s look anorexic.

He pretty much had to winden it as he wanted to use a TR6 frame with IRS and the front IRS mounting points would have been out in the air with a stock TR3 body. Cutting it down the middle and widening it took a lot of skill and if it had been me I'd probably have just used the original chassis amd grafted the new running gear in, but then I have never been a fan of the Triumph IRS rear suspension - very poorly selected spring rates and half shafts that are diabolical if you race one (most replace them with better shafts_.

Randy did a very professional conversion and still retained the basic lines and style of the TR3. If you want to see how the a humble TR3 gets butchered go to this site: "Red , White and Boosted. They try to put a TR3 shell on a Mercedes chassis! Oh my eyes!
