Wedge The TR7 runs -- now I have to fix it AGAIN!!!

So, when we last left our hero, he had glued the carb mounts, reattached the carbs, then found the fuel pump was bad. He put in a temporary electric fuel pump (just wired to the battery.)

Well, I finally got a replacement OE fuel pump and installed it yesterday. After some serious cranking, it came to life...won't idle. Did some looking at the mounts AND THEY CAME APART AGAIN!!!!!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif

My buddy Adam was there and essentially said "okay, that's it." He's going to weld a set out of metal and solve it once and for all.

It has been beautiful here in the northwest, and I really want to drive this dang TR7. I haven't driven it in over six months!!!

SammyB,

The same thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago. I installed a new set of mounts from TRF and they lasted about 50 miles. Carburetors fell off when the rubber separated from the steel backing plate. I ordered a set of aluminum mounts with thermal insulators from Tony Rhodes for $80.00 + $6.00 shipping. They work great and he sends you all the mounting bolts and gaskets to boot. I highly recommend these mounts. They definately solved my high idle problem.

Tony's website address is listed below:

His email address is listed at the bottom of the page.

Richard,
Thanks for the link. Those look great. Of course, I showed them to my buddy Adam, and he said that he wanted the chance to build a pair himself to try to save me the $100 ($80+shipping.) So I'll see what he can make. If he doesn't have the time, I'll just buy these aluminum ones.

I'm just itching to get this thing on the road!!!
