TR6 The TR6 is finally home

After going to the shop in March for a few leaks and dicovering worn out thrust washers which lead to dicovering two cracked cylinder walls.......etc,etc-the car is finally home. While we will ultimately try again to get the TBI system working we decided for now to run the car on the carbs and finish breaking in the new motor. With the improvements in place( shaved head to 9-1c/r,tuned and ported head,Fidenza flywheel,GP2 cam/lifters/single springs from Goodparts,.030 over pistons and new almost everything else the car is a real pleasure to drive. And it really wants to pull!!!( I had no idea what self control Brosky had to use earlier this year to get his 500 miles in)
Thought I would finally post some pics of our progress to date. I still have some interior pieces to button up and numerous touch-uips on the exterior to do but I think I am going to try to enjoy it for a bit before summer is over.

Well, I have to get going-still have 421 miles to go!!!!
Elysium

She looks great - fall is a nice driving season where you are so lots of miles to go still before you have to put her away!

I finally got mine out today for a run. It's been sitting for a month. Started right up after I had the coil wire pulled to allow oil pressure to pump up and warmed right up.

I still have to use restraint because I'm supposed to keep it around 5,000rpms for the next 1,000 miles. Tomorrow is supposed to be a beauty of a day, so after my morning golf, my wife and I will be cruising to Newport in the afternoon.

It would be nice to see two TR6's down there on Ocean Drive.

As chance would have it, I had already suggested a picnic at Beavertail for Sunday. I happen to think that is about the prettiest location in the state and my wife has only seen it from the boat ( unfortunately she usually has to lift her head from the bucket to see it) Any chance you might be lured over in that direction? I suspect (if all is running well) we could be lured into a mini tour of the islands or some such.

Looking good Elysium...drive and enjoy...great to see another 6 in little RI. Beavertail is one of our favorite spots....nothing like watching a sunset there...we're there regularly in the TR6 or Spitfire.

Sorry can't join you tomorrow but would love to do the drive with you another time.

Paul...we're heading to the Cape tomorrow for the CCBCC picnic at the Jacobsons...have fun in Newport.

As much as I'd like to, that doesn't seem possible now. I just found out that our plans may change with a trip to Newport first (to exchange something at a store), then over to North Kingstown for a family picnic. I just don't want to hear about any adjustment in my golf schedule.

Of course, all of this is subject to change (without my input or thoughts) just like the weather, so stay tuned for our next exciting episode..........

I expect we will be down towards Beavertail by mid-day so if your trek from Newport to NK has any slack in it perhaps you will wind your way down there. Likewise if cruising Ocean Ave becomes an option give me a holler on the cell and we can hook up.
By the way,we tried to copy your style of 3rd lite on the rollbar but the light we got looks subpar( and the roof wont clear on the way up or down) so I was wondering if you recall the what& where on yours. We're wired so it should be an easy swap.

The first question that I would ask is if you mounted it on top of the carpeting?

I never made it past Bristol. An accident that wasn't my fault (thank goodness) will put an end to this summers driving. See my latest thread.

No-the roll bar is flat on the shelf and the carpet will be cut around it. Roof support clears the rollbar ok( +/- .25") but will not clear the rear facing 3rd brake light-it is too thick. As it also looks kind of cheesy with white plastic base I was wondering what light you had used.
Sorry to miss you in Jamestown today-spectacular day and flawless debut for the TR6. Put about 150 miles on this weekend and except for a sticking throttle linkage it ran flawlessly. As much fun as 3000 is I can't wait to visit 4000 and 5000 sometime.
Sorry to see the mention of an accident in Bristol-looked for your post before starting this but didn't see one. Hope everyone is alright.
