After a long day on the road, enjoying the colors, seeing all kinds of weather, meeting a new friend (and getting to see his awesome collection)and loading up in the rain. My long anticipated TR2 project is safely home in my garage. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Looks to be about 80% complete, has some minor damage to the front fenders, but is remarkably solid and rust free.
Pictures will be posted very soon.... 10 hrs on the road, I'm whipped.
So who's got TR2/3 parts?!
Right off I can see that I need some goodies.
I diden't get any electrical switches, so I'm looking for them all.
I need the top rails for the doors, a right front fender ( if I can find one cheap enough),a glove box door, and a set of wind-tone horns for starters.
I'm sure after a complete invintory I'll have a longer list.
I'll ty to get som pics up by tomorrow.

Banjo ,
Thats great! looking foward to some photos.

Congrats!

I know exactly how you feel. When I got my TR3 into my garage, the first thing I did was notice all the parts that were either missing, or replaced by non-standard pieces.

Can't wait to see pix.

Congrats Ben,
He does have quite a collection doesn't he. Good luck and I'm glad to see it is what you expected.

Pictures! I've got some pictures uploaded to flickr.
use the link in my signature to check 'em out.
I'll be taking more soon. I'll keep ya updated.
I'm still in amazement about the lack of any serious rust.
this morning I went out to the garage, cleaned the stuff out of the interior, set the seats in, and climbed in to try it on.
I sat there for several minutes making motor noises and invisioning it in BRG with brookland windscreens.
This is gonna be fun!

Banjo,

Nice car!! Looks alot like mine, except nicer floorboards! My friend Mark from British Auto has all the switches, etc you might need for the car, including I'm sure the aluminum capping. Best of luck with the restoration. Keep us posted. I'll keep you updated on mine...

Thanks,

Banjo,

Do you know how many miles are on the car? Will it require a motor rebuild do you think? I'm seriously considering not going through mine, only beacuse it sounded so good when I started it up, the oil pressure was good even when hot, and the car has only 56K on it. I'm sure you're ready to get to work, whatever you decide....

Well Mark, I have no idea of the true mileage. The speedo I got is out of a TR3, along with the rest of the guages.
This thing is really stripped down. Everything is in boxes, including the engine. It's been dismantled. So it's gonna need a rebuild no matter what.
The engine and tranny is likewise out of a TR3, so since it's a non-matching numbers car I feel better about building it the way I want.
I plan on using the bigger "slugs-n-jugs" outta my parts TR4As engine, along with the full syncro trans, and possibly the entire braking system. Everything I've read about the early TR2s brake setup is negative, so since I intend to drive the wheels offa this thing I think you all could forgive me if I carefully pack away all the original pieces and bolt on the discs and bigger drums.
The only part of the original engine I have is the low-port cylinder head and intake (no two bolt mounted SU carbs, darn it) But I have the complete setup for the high port head (SUs and all) from the TR3 engine, so that's probably how I'm gonna go for now.
