any ways should have evreything off the engine by the end of the week.
would anyone happen to know of where i can get the certification as proof of its age or is the first registration date good enough?

Based on what I see... you've got something Mk3 or later (post-1969). Sadly, you're probably missing the VIN tags as they would be on the steel panels removed during the flip-front conversion.

There are a few things you can still look for but I'm not sure where to tell you to look on a Mk3 or later car. On some early cars there were production dates stamped on the inside of the boot lock assembly. Mk1/2 cars had production dates on the cover to the wiper motor... but they used a different motor than yours. IF the engine is original to the car (and the distributor is too) then you can look for month/date codes on the dizzy body. For the early cars you could also decode the stamps on the window glass to help determine the car's age (If you don't have a copy of Parnell's book on the Mini Cooper, it's helpful). Returning to the engine, if it's original to the car you may be able to place an age range on it by decoding the engine tag number which would have been riveted to the top of the block next to the thermostat housing.

What engine is being built for your car?

That sure looks like a project. Is it gonna be a full resto? Have you got the specs on the new motor? Good luck and be sure to post lots of pictures of your progress. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The date of first registration should be good. I am assuming that you have the vehicle's V5 document? You should be able to find the "chassis" number on the V5 too. This being the case you should have enough to be able to get a Heritage Certificate for the car, which will also give you the build date of the car. What's the registration number? I can give you a good estimate based on that.

sory bout not getting back to ya guys been busy moving and stuff im in south dakota now i got the engine installed started fine im just wateing for income tax to come in so i can upgrade the brakes. does anyone have any sugestions for oil

I run 20W50 in my LBCs. In the UK you'll probably see some lighter grades recommended but a lot of times those recommendations come from people driving later model cars with later A+ engines.
