the "season" is closing in on me

Well it finally stopped raining in my area... checked the forecast & it should be sunny with a high of 50'F this afternoon - so off to work in Midge today, except it was 31'F when I drove to work at 6:30am - ha ha Midge is a bit more stubborn starting in those temps... this may be the last day before she gets put to bed for the winter... sigh - Here's hoping for a less rainy driving season next year !

Re: the "season" is closing in on me

I think a lot of us are feeling the same way. :frown:

Here in NJ, we've had snow already and it snowed when I was at Watkins Glen a few weeks ago.

My MGB street car has been sitting around a lot partly due to race stuff with the Spridget and also a wonky brake line. Anyway, brakes are all fixed now and yeserday I took it on a 160 mile, top-down ride. Half of that was after 7 PM, so obviously, it was dark out on the return trip. This is deer-rutting season, so lots of dead carcasses on the way home. Mostly dark, single lane, rural roads; the thought of hitting a deer in an MGB keeps your speeds down.

The excuse for the ride was so that I could watch my grandaughter for a few hours (my daughter and son-in-law had a work conflict). Normally, I drive the Miata when I do this, but didn't want to miss one last shot at a good ride in the B.

Since I has the time, I did sort of a last-minute Tour of New Jersey.
I passed or stopped at:

~Washinton's Headquarters~

~Fort Nonsense~

~U.S. Olympic Equestrian Team~
The stables are nicer than my house.

~Princeton University~
Kids are worse than the deer. Walk right in front of you without looking..

~112 Mercer Street~
I work with his cousin. Also a physicist. Same last name too.

~The David Sarnoff Research Center~
TV Mecca

But my main reason for going was this..

Weather is getting just right for the Midget here in Arizona. Highs in the low 80's. But remember, it was over 110 in the summer. Terrible time to drive a Midget. Turnabout is fair play.

Hmmmm so when I retire in 21 years (who's counting  ) I will need a winter home in Arizona, perfect balance - 365 Spridget driving is what I need !
I liked Phoenix weather when I was there for a week or so just before Christmas back in 2007... yes that could work

So, does the grand have to ride under the toneau?

Well, at least you guys are driving your LBCs. My Midget's up on jackstands, waiting for me to finish the front suspension overhaul.

I went on a fall colors tour, but sadly, not in my MG.

She'll be ready to go soon, tho': can't wait!

Re: the "season" is closing in on me

Jack is the one who has it made. I lived near Panama City,FL and it was nice most of the year. one time they were all in hoods and mittens because it got all the way down to 43 degrees. Eh, the Midget has a top and a heater so I will keep going. Its my motorcycling that is suffering. I ride this little 200cc bike to work a lot. Bought it when I was 19 and still love the ride of the little bike. I have had bigger, but I will keep this one always. Last fill up was 2 gallons exactly and 178 miles.

A shame they don't still really sell the small bikes, Kim.

I put my Triumph (motorcycle) away this past weekend, and the Tunebug is back up on axle stands for the final push to completion. We've had a bit of snow already, but not real winter yet. It's due any time now, though.

No its a real simple chain drive, single carb twin cylinder. They made that motor so well that they stretched it from a 298cc to a 234cc and its what is on the Rebel 250. They have made the rebel off and on and its on right now. saw a 2009 the other day. They are on the showrooms right now and get around 80mpg and lots of motorcycle training courses use them as their preferred trainer bikes.
