The Roadster Factory - Investment?

Does anyone have experience with The Roadster Factory's "Customer Investment Program"?

There's always a page in each TRF catalog regarding "personal investment loans" from TRF customers to the owner, providing 10% annual return each year for five years.

I wondered if any BCF members have experience with this.

There's no guarantee, but 10% per year return on investment, paid monthly, for a period of five years, sounds pretty good these days. TRF has offered this investment possibility for five years - wondered if anyone here has given it a thought and/or had any good/bad results.

Comments?

Thanks.
Tom

I know little but from what little I've heard stay away.

TRF is a sole proprietorship of some 25 years. I would think that if not for a financial problem awhile back, he would not be making this offer, or would have found a small business loan at a lower rate. It is my opinion that when Charles A. Runyan goes (retires), so goes the business which is what normally happens. While 10% money on an unsecured loan sounds good, it is 1-2% below commercial offerings.

The question I would ask, if it were not the TRF, would you make this investment?

All said, I like the TRF and wish Runyan a long and successful life.

I've met Runyan at several car shows. He appears to be an intelligent guy, and he's very friendly and cordial.

He's also a hard worker, and seems to run a pretty tight ship.

Prospective investors may obtain financial data about Runyan's business before investing. By all accounts, it's a stable business.

I hope folks choose to support him, it's a good concept.

Don't you get a substantial discount on parts also in addition to your 10% ? If starting a large restoration project this may also help sweeten the deal.

He gives a 33% discount off retail prices on loans of $5000 or more. That is significant.
