Does any one recall "The Green Helmet"? I read it way way back in Readers Digest condensed version. I recall it was about a fictional British "special" and competing in the traditional road races such as the Mille Miglia.

I too read the Red Car in the 50's and got hooked. Never forget the "string between the cars" phrasing.

Behind The Wheel Phyllis Fenner, 1964. Novel of cars on road and track.
The Roaring Road, Gene Olsen, 1965. Novel of sports car racing.
Crazy to Race W.E. Butterworth, 1971. Prolific author of car books for young people. Including: Fast Green Car, Grand Prix Driver, Marty and the Micro-Midgets, Stock Car Racer, Redline 7100, Road Racer, Team Racer and The Wheel of a Fast Car.
Black Tiger at Le Mans, Patrick O’Conner, 1958. Also author of The Black Tiger and Mexican Road Race.
Le Mans: Twice Around the Clock, Michael Gibson, 1962. Novel.
And not to be forgotten; Wall Smacker, Peter DePaolo, 1935. Anyone finding one that has NOT been autographed, I want to know about it.
