The Esprit will disappear after 2003 not b/c of its price 92,120 dollar..or its older 27 year design..but because french automaker..Renault...no longer wants to make the car's five speed manual transmission..

Boo...hissss..

actually its time

Reportedly Lotus is testing a mid engine chassis that could with minimal effort accomodate models of varying size and specification, including the next Elise, A v8 powered Esprit successor, and a smaller coupe similar to the stillborn M250 with a V6 engine..possibly a 3.5 VQ from Nissan.

Well thats the news

What do you think?

Does this sound as if we've got some exciting new models coming?

I'd say we might just have a few winners here..

That is very sad that a legand is disapearing but it was honestly time. At least the Esprit was able to "retire" gracefully and not become a joke like the Avanti.

The Esprit could never be like the Avanti... James Bond wouldn't be caught dead in an Avanti!
