Well, here's a photo of what happened to the TR3 on July 4...Luckily no damage was done to the engine!

Nothing a little JB-Weld can't take care of. Your lucky you didn't destroy the block.
 
Never seen that happen to a TR crank before. Had a Midget years ago, crank broke right in the middle main, engine still ran but made funny noise when you pushed in on the clutch. Dad and I had a time figuring that one out.

I think that a little super could fix that!!
I was just at a friends who has a Morgan. The flywheel spins but the motor does not. The problem could be very much the same.
 
That's NOT an isolated incident. The crank has been know to break in just that spot. Often times at a rather slow speed.
