"Don't try this at home."
I rolled my '64 TR4 over three times one night. Had no roll bar and did not get a scratch. What happened; went off the road and over a slight ramp. While the car was in the air it was so smooth and quiet that I thought the car had stopped so I released the seat belt and opened the door. The first step was a long one and I landed flat on my face in a fresh worked field. The car landed on both sides of my body so close that if I had had my arms extended instead of next to me the would have both been crushed. The car went end-over-end, kitty-corner, and flipped sideways before landing on the tires. This was in 1965 and original factory parts were readily available. The entire body was replaced except for the boot lid. Also the windscreen and frame was replaced. Everything else was fine. A roll bar would have most likely caused more damage.

Wow Tom, I have had similar experiences but always stayed with the car.
I just never thought about getting out until the vehicle came to a full and complete stop.
Morris - Awesome pics!! It's really nice to let kids have fun with the cars, gives them an appreciation that can't be gained from 'just looking'.

Morris, kids do love playing around these cars.
I'm thinking yours is a 75+ midget? What kind of seats do you have in there? It looks as if the roll bar doesn't extend clear down to the floor pan but rather on the back shelf. If I'm right about the roll bar, where did you get it? I can't afford to loss anymore leg room.

The car is a 79. The seats are from a Miata. I love them.
The roll bar came with the car when I bought it. It lools like the roll bar VB sells. It is bolted to the parcel shelf. I doubt it would do much in a roll over besides tear up the car. I only keep it in the car beacause the kids like playing on it and I am too lazy to patch the holes that would be created by its removal. Also, I live in monster truck country. The bar gives me a false sense of security that my head will stay attached to my shoulders should I be rear ended by one.

My '68 has a similar rollbar. Autopower I believe. You won't lose any leg room but you will lose some seat recline room. With Miata Seats like I have as well, less than with Spridget seats however and the Miata Seats are far more comfortable. At 5/6" I'm not large and I could go for some more seat recline and I keep seat as far back as it will go.
