Wedge the new TR7 is home.

Some of you might know that I bought a TR7 since I couldn't find a solid GT candidate fro $800 (I'm too impatient, but I'll keep looking).

Well, it's home and it towed great on the flatbed. It's sitting in the garage now waiting for me to bring it back to life. A trunk full of parts and sticky rear brakes. Oh, and a 5-speed. Being new to the TR7, I wasn't sure if it was a 4 or 5 speed.

I'm going to attack the brakes while I wait for my Bentley manual. Took three of us (and we're not small guys) to push it into the garage. I should be able to push this myself! So, I'll pull the brakes, fire up the blast cabinet, and get a nice big can of PB-Blaster and get those brakes loosened up. The parking brake handle doesn't even pull up, so I'll try it again after I get them freed up at the wheels.

The top looks good. Seats need new cloth, carpet isn't bad, door panels are OK (I do need a alight for one side). The doors are a little floppy, so I'll check the hinges to see what their problem is. Windows crank up and down fine. The lock are a bit tight, so, I'm thinking I'll pull the door panels and give everything a good cleaning and a few shots of white lithium grease. Toss some graphite in all the locks. Adjust the trunk latch, oh and try to find a spare tire.

So, what series battery do I need to get?

I just need to remember to get this car road-worthy and don't take it apart!!!!

Any hints on getting the rear drums off? I finally got the e-brake loose and can turn the hubs by hand, now I'd like to inspect and rebuild the rear brakes first. I'm guessing they are the "I can't push it by myself" culprits.

i've never had any trouble pulling off the drums. mine have always just pulled off the axle hub. maybe they are rusted to the hub?
 
well, a little talk with the BFH, and all is well. The shoes were pushed out and the e-brake was holding on. Clean it all up, get new shoes, new fluid, then start the fronts.

Took the buffer to part of the hood, it's red...Bordeaux Red code CCK.

I'll be back with plenty of questions. Came with FI and dual carb setups, will probably go with the FI so I can hock the carb setup
 
You may have some rust build up between the brake drum and axle shaft wheel flange. Try lightly taping with the flat side of a 3lb. ball peen hammer (actually any hammer will do with a flat surface) on the outward face of the drum between the wheel studs in a circular motion to shock the rust. Screw the wheel nuts back on to protect the wheel studs and or do not hit the studs. This usually breaks the rust bonding the drum and flange and the drum usually pulls right off.
 
Tap lightly? Tried that, it laughed at me!! The shoes were tight up against the drum. Got it all apart and started cleaning tonight. Blasted all the parts. Will get some paint, shoes, fluid tomorrow. Will also check to make sure the wheel cylinders are working. They aren't leaking.

The adjustment plates inside were frozen solid. PB-Blasted them, and in a couple minutes they were loose and happy.
