After reading as much as I can about the car, the less I think we will see it take off here in the States. Who's going to buy a Chinese car that has no dealer support? This is the rumor that's going around, which might not be true. And, it does look like every other blob of plastic and tin going down the road. Also, I understand that the engine doesn't meet our emission standards. The more I read about the car, the less interested I become. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif PJ

I think that "Morris Garage" has been able to keep their racing team seperate from the production cars. The "X-Power"
cars are hand built in England and sold by "MG" racing. The normal production cars will be everyday plastic shoeboxs for the masses. Either way maybe the company as a whole can stay alive long enough for someone to buy the company who really cares about the heritage of a LBC.
Perhaps we should all pool together our lunch money and buy the Triumph name and perhaps Austin-Healy to keep them safe from Asain Invaders. You would think that after the British Car invasion of the 60's and 70's that someone would figure out that Americans will pay good money for a REAL sportscar- Sort of like the Lotus Elise but only less expensive. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif
 
Well, a certain tribe of Germans own the Triumph name and have been rattling their axes/clubs about using it in the near future. The Healey name is supposed to be back in the hands of the family and another group that was looking to restart the marque.

The X-power's at least the SV and SV-R's, were a huge waste of money. Well, waste is maybe too strong. They generated good interest but cost quite a few pretty pennies to design and develop them. Now people are afraid to buy them because there are already parts that you can't get anymore. Shame really because they are pretty impressive in person and VERY aggressive in their design. There are more and more of them showing up in classifieds in the British Classic Car publications. I've also recently noticed that a whole slew of more current MG Z-series production race cars are showing up for sale in the same publications.

Too late! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif The Chinese already 'own' the Austin name, they bought it with Rover. Hence the competing introductions of a new 'Healey" and whatever the chinese announce... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
 
But the Chinese don't own "Healey" though, do they? I mean, I'm having a difficult time finding any announcements about a "new Healey" that don't cite HFI as the backing firm.
 
It's my understanding that the Healey family has kept pretty tight control over the use of their name. Good on them.
 
Well we all know what happened to our little beloved MG. But at the present time, the Healey family is still around to protect thier name. Let's hope that it stays that way. I wonder if they have any hopes of reviving the car in this modern era? I did set in Donalds personal Rolls Healey once. Have a few pics of it. Cool! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif PJ
