I resubscribed to it & Car & Driver because it was cheap.
I just got my first issue.Inside was the following -

- Patinaing Hot Wheels cars

- Too much information on Lewis Hamilton

-Pages of lowriders

- Story of a guy who builds retro '60's Camaros

- 10 pages on drifting cars15 pages on the new McLarens

The staff is people I've never heard of.The "old" R&T
had staff that stayed there for years.
I think that they forgot who subscribes to R&T - it's
mainly older males who would rather read a magazine, rather
than viewing it on their computers.
I have a few boxes of old R&Ts that I re-read time-to-time,
from the '60's,'70's & '80's that I plan on keeping.I give away the
newer issues.

... but predictable. It's happening to all the printed info/entertainment media. I gave up on car magazines years ago. And when we bought our motor home, we received a subscription to an RV magazine which used to focus on motor homes; there was a sister publication for travel trailers. Now (month or so ago), they've combined them into one magazine, and everyone's hollering about it, saying there's nothing in it but pablum.

I couldn't agree more. After several years of C&D, last year I decided to go back to R&T that really covers more of what interests me. Oh no, we have a new deal for you, R&T with all kinds of clubs and ad ons. I have all the access to those types of things through Hagerty, SCCA, Porsche Club, other magazines tours, etc. I finally decided that they didn't need my money. I still manage to have "enough" fun without them. I do still enjoy getting a paper magazine, it's kind of like having an old book - you can't smell the pages or feel the ink on your Kindle or phone!
Party on Garth!

Basil, I love your new (old) avatar, brings back memories.

I've also noticed that their "offers" of merchandise,& tours
seemed to be aimed at the wealthy,as the prices on them are very-
high,in my opinion.
Do I really need/want a $2500 + watch?

Funny, how magazine publication has become incredibly price-driven. Most specialty magazines, from "Flying" to "R&T" are less than $10 / year. Unfortunately, the content matches the editorial budget...

Would we pay a $50 / year for a nice magazine? There have been a few attempts, but none seem to stick.

I'm a fan of Classic Motorsports and Grassroots Motorsports, at 6 issues / year, and something like $10-20 / year each (I forget the exact $), it seems a decent balance for quality / cost.

I'm still REALLY bummed that Hemming's Sport & Exotic Car magazine
went away.I was glad to pay more for it.

Hemmings Sports and Exotic was the last magazine I read cover to cover soon after getting it. Road & Track and Car and Driver used to be, but that was many years ago.

In their defense, they followed the old formula for a long time, readership dwindled, so they are trying new things. Still I am not impressed either. Of course most modern cars don't interest me much, which adds a degree of difficulty to their job.

Wait till electric cars come in big time. Then self-driving cars? What will they write about then? If you have access to a charger, an electric car for your daily commuter makes a lot of sense especially when they stretch the range to 350 miles or so. I'd consider a Chevrolet Volt or Bolt right now for a 2nd car if I could find one for a reasonable price after I got rid of the Honda.

After self driving will be self reading cars, so they will download the magazine to memory and we'll never know which ones they think are the coolest. Articles like "Why you don't park under a tree in summer" and "don't let those kids do that in the back seat"...
