The New Flexable Garden Hoses--Waste of Money!

Looking in to buying a couple, I researched them on the net and was surprised of the complaints against them! They break, they leak and the company's selling them on TV are not backing the products. Bottom line, their a neat idea, but as of now, their a waste of money. Sounds like the internal material is made out of a cheap type plastic. :nonono: PJ

Had mine all summer and I like it.
It beats the heck out of that spiral POS that the old owners left.

I keep mine in a little pottery pot on my porch.
Looks good and it stores it nice

Glad you didn't get hosed don.

We've been experimenting with one at our place this summer. So far, so good. Certainly easier to store and wrangle around. We'll see how long it lasts.

Not only that...I didn't get soaked either

I've bought a few and agree with the lack of durability complaint. I like the concept and as long as they hold together they work as advertised. They must be pretty good overall as the other day someone stole the one I had in the flower pot out in front of the house.
The trick is not to drag them across the ground where they might snag on objects and watch not to let them kink.
Fotunately they are not too expensive and with a little extra care they do the job.

Uhhhh, why you think they left it bro?!

I keep getting emails for "pocket hose" and it always makes me chuckle. Which, of course; begs the question, " Is that a hose in your pocket.. or you just..."

Best part about them leaving it was the incredible nozzle that was attached to that "POS" hose

What?! An "as seen on TV" product isn't the most durable, reliable, effective, highest quality and highest performing thing on the market? I'm gobsmacked.

Next you'll be telling me that Jacques Pepin doesn't use Ginsus.

Anyway,

Yeah, sounds like a pretty good idea that's had highly variable execution.

It's pretty much guaranteed that the performance of any product, even if it was well designed (and I'm not saying that this one is or isn't), is going to vary greatly when it's manufactured for lowest cost and highest volume by an offshore factory that knows it's dealing with a marketing company, not the end customers.

Apparently there's enough demand for a better version. Xhose now has a "pro" version with heavier construction, larger ID, brass fittings and a "lifetime warranty" (always read the fine print). It hasn't been out very long but so far it hasn't generated as much negative buzz as the original. Hopefully, it'll turn out to be a decent product.

Which makes me think that eventually, if not already, we'll see one in the Griot's Garage catalog for $750.

I got tired of messing with plastic hoses and was thinking about buying one of those as seen on TV. Instead, i just bought a rubber hose. They handle much better then plastic, and will kink, but they are very easy to un-kink. I've got one of those wind-up reels in a box, so storage is easy. I just use the hose to wash cars and other stuff in the driveway, so it doesn't see much use.

Well, My friend bought one of those "expando" hoses. It didn't make it thru its first use. I have real rubber hoses. The newest one is 20 years old. Vinyl is ok for a few years but then cracks and falls apart.

Looks like the Pro version is made with better materials. I'm going to buy one and see if it lasts. I think it's a great idea. My shop hose is a Goodyear, very heavy and a pain to drag around, but is 10 years old and still looks good. I certainly would not want on of those for the house. PJ

Well, not quite a whole season ,but mine crapped out.
But I will buy another

I've seen at least two variants, one with plastic fittings and one with brass fittings.

The ones at Home Depot are awful. Just awful.

I bought two of the 3/4" X-Hose off the infomercial. Yea, it was late and one too many glasses of wine and I was hooked.

I swear they make them to order as it took 6 weeks to get, but this has real brass connections and is very well made. I like it alot and expect it to last for several years.

YMMV
