What a shame the British didn't follow through with the design. PJ

Has a hint of Aston to it, a beauty no doubt.

Re: The Most Beautiful MGB - 1962 Jaque Coune Coupe

The MGB/GT was referred toas "The Poor Man's Aston Martin" by Don Hayter, John Thornley, and others in the Abingdon assembly plant.

Re: The Most Beautiful MGB - 1962 Jaque Coune Coup

Rick, Do you know how many of these models Jaque Coune redone? Was this the only one? PJ

Re: The Most Beautiful MGB - 1962 Jaque Coune Coup

The above car, the Coune Berlinette, was designed by Jacques Coune and presented to the designers at M.G. They decided the car looked too Italian, so went with another design. Ironically, the design they chose which is what we know as the MGB GT was made by Pinifarina... an Italian company! You may recognize the name as the body designer for Ferrari among other big name manufacturers.

I believe six Coune Berlinette MGs still exist.

Are there any other pictures of the car? I'd like to see the back end as well.

Re: The Most Beautiful MGB - 1962 Jaque Coune Coup

Hmmm....Wonder if that front end could be recreated in fiberglass?

try to get one to mold from...LOL

I did try once. Unless you buy the car, you will never get a mold made.

What I've heard here is....if you have to ask......

Re: The Most Beautiful MGB - 1962 Jaque Coune Coup

those front wings certainly are sweet though... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Kind of makes the car even more timeless than it already is. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And with the ÂŁ/$ exchange rate as it currently is, its likely to stay in Olde Englande, or there-abouts....

The front is good, very good. I like it a lot until the very rear, which looks bland.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif Some people like that rear end though. Personally, that much sheet metal and only two little round tail lights to break it up leaves something to be desired. I suppose putting the license plate in that billboard of a rear end (instead of under the bumper like it is in the pics) might help break things up a bit though.

Take an old "B" fender, Some sheet metal skill, a lot of patience and it's amazing what you could do. I have no doubt that there's some of you guys out there who could make the fender on the top photo look like the one on the bottom. PJ

Re: The Most Beautiful MGB - 1962 Jaque Coune Coup

I believe the asking price of the car for sale is around $40K USD.

Re: The Most Beautiful MGB - 1962 Jaque Coune Coup

Steve, If it's the one I think it is, the price is warranted. It is the only right hand drive model made and built for the chairman of BMC as his personal car. The right hand drive alone make's it a one and only. PJ
