Moss lists 4 short and two long, and indeed thats what I got from TRF when they had a sale on body fittings. In looking at the Stanchions it would make good sense to put the long ones at the bottom because of the thickness. All of the parts are going to the platers tomorrow. I took the little pegs out and cleaned them up with Happich SemiChrome polish. Came out looking great, I will use them over again. Unfortunatly the tenon plates are in vile shape, will have to be replaced they are damaged in strange places, almost look like they were dragged along a cement sidewalk.

Brought the two stanchion and the 2 surround parts to the platers today, 6 weeks, $500 thank you. I do know that I will get a superb job.

Estimated cost to refurbish the windscreen is as follows:

Re-plating................$500

New SS tenons..............$70

New Glass (pk up in NE)....$130

Misc Hardware and seals....$120

Total......................$820......Yikes!!!!!!

Now I remember why I'm not a keeping running total on this project!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why not get the tenons re-chromed ? I had all mine done 18 years ago and everything is still like new. Think about it. In 98,000 miles with my TR3A, I'd guess that 4,000 miles was in the wet. At an average of say 40 MPH, that was only 100 hours in the wet. Therefore a good quality chrome will stand up like mine did in only 100 hours. Do you plan to drive more than 6000 miles a year ? Or park it uncovered outside in the rain ?
 
Don, the cost of replating those tenon plates is higher than the purchase of a pair of SS ones from Moss! Thanks to the EPA and other cost factors the cost of replating has gone out of sight. However my little hood pegs cleaned up right nicely, so they will get reused. A small thing but a battle won, non the less.
