His daughter reads aloud the names of the candidates. He either nodded 'yes' to the names or shook his head 'no.' She filled in the boxes on his behalf.

He was sent to a California internment camp in the early years of World War II. While there, he volunteered to serve in the U.S. military, and was assigned to the Military Intelligence Service.

He's voted in every presidential election since he was awarded his citizenship in order to serve during WWII.

The story

Tom

He was in the same internment center as George Takei and his family.

Inspiring! Thanks for the link and God bless him and his family.

One of my best friends is a well-known Japanese-American; I just sent him this link.

Along with this gentleman and George Takei there were many others held in internment camps: Larry Shinoda comes to mind (did much of the design work on the C2 and C3 Corvette plus the Boss 302 Mustang and Jeep Grand Cherokee). Also Norman Mineta, former US Secretary of Transportation. There are many others.

The gentleman passed away yesterday (Wednesday).
