The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Well, its a beautiful morning. I woke up at 5:30 am Central Time, went for a little jog, took a shower and I'm getting the garage ready. Even though they say its going to be 80 today, I turned on the heaters in my non-insulated garage; and I'm going to make it neater.

Wish us luck. I'm waiting for that call from Jerry that he's close to town.

"Updates and all will be given throughout the day, Please stay tuned in case questions arise. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Thanks.
May we bring life to it again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif

(Edited by Tony to make comprehensible. Keenan, I'm really getting tired of this.)

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Whats the firing order on the spark plugs and location one #1 terminal

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Keenan, it's 1-3-4-2, rotating counter-clockwise. #1 should be at the front of the cap.

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Supose it is running? Or are they working like crazy. Or Keenan is out for a ride?

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Runs whether ignition on or off - once you tart it only way to stop it is pull wire from distributor side of coil...gave 'em some hints, haven't heard back

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Well at least it runs, that's a plus.

Tonys advise: New switch on dash to break coil wire? Oh wait, that's what the keyed switch is supose to do.

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

I told 'em to get her running & pull the wires off the alternator to see if she dies...distributor is points, so....

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Hmmm...I remember the last thread on this saying that Keenan was going to try to use the Pertronix 45D that was in his old engine...maybe Jerry just had him keep the 25D that was in there.

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Well, when I talked with Jerry he said the distributor was points.

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

He would definitely know; I just recalled reading a few of Ryan's posts saying that Keenan wanted to use the 45D Pertronix in his old motor. Wonder if Jerry had time to take a look at Keenan's old engine and find out what happened to it?

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

I wanted to wait till I personally told Ryan, but I've tried to reach him for the last 4 hours. So, I'll say it: Yes! It runs. Yes! I will drive it tomorrow after I finish bleeding the brakes and getting a new (thermostat)because we bent it when taking that dang 38 year old bell housing off (NOTE: I think he meant thermostat housing).

If it is bent will it still be good?

(Again, Keenan, you've got to use a spell check. I have no idea if this is what you're asking; and we can't help if we can't understand!)

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

It runs, It runs. Whoot. You turn it on. It turns you on. Sounds good to me.

Thanks Ryan, wish I could have helped. You are a super guy.

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

If every thing goes well and I get the 3 screws need for the air pump to the carb, Ill drive it around the block his after noon.

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Several options here for us shade tree guys.

1. Bleed the brakes and drive to the store for the bolts thus makeing sure you have the correct ones.

2. Find something on your old engine that fits close enough with or without the filter on so you know what size to get.

3. Wait till after chruch for folks to check in and give you the specs.

I dont know what size to get or have any thing close.

Re: The Keenan Project : Updates and Commentary

Bleed the brakes and hook up the spring or what ever. Drive the car to the to the bolts and try em till you find something that works. It really does not need that air cleaner to go to the store, heck, racers run without em all the time.

Now that is not to say you wish to do the same but for a bit is just fine.
