The great axle swap!

OK.....I have the opportunity to buy a complete rear end assembly from a '71 Midget that had wire wheels. I only want or need the 3.90 diff that is attached to it, but the diff is the same price as the entire assembly.

So, it makes no sense not to get the entire thing, even though I can't use any of it. That said......I would be willing to trade the rest of the assembly for a pair of disc wheel axles. Just cover the shipping (& I'll cover the shipping of the disc axles) and let's swap!

You would get everything minus the diff.....axles, hubs, brakes & the tube. Is that worth it or should I just take the diff and leave the rest behind?
 
Here's why that axle housing is worthwile taking:

The axle housing in Spridgets often gets *slightly* bent, resulting in "tweaked axles" that eventually fail. Racers bend them all the time. I have, at this point, several good spares, so I don't really need it. But many other racers (or vintage racers) would probably like to have it.
 
Are 1/4 elliptical housings more likely to get bent than 1/2 elliptical?
 
Thanks for the info. Maybe that's my problem.....or patially why I keep snapping axles (aside from having twice the power). It looks like I will take the whole thing and probably drag it to a swap meet somewhere locally to avoid having to ship it.
