I will say that Mrs JP got a recall letter from Mini - about her Mini saying they had had issues with the cars catching fire. They told us they were working on it but until then it would good not to park the car in the garage.

JP, what year/model is Mrs JP's Mini? We have two (2007 and 2021) and haven't gotten any letters recently. Our 2007 Cooper S did have an potential issue with the water pump circuit board overheating/fire that was a recall. Also had recalls for the exhaust tips sticking out too far and the stretching timing chain.

Bob, it is a 2013 - and the letter was a few years ago (I will need to check what came of it) It is also not a turbo.
 
Guess this also shows that the ads car makers have run about how many miles prototypes are driven isn't really the same thing as actual aging of a car and components.
