Going back to my earliest memories - these are cars like my parents owned over the years. They came of age in the 1930s. While in the Army in WW2, Dad said he learned not to trust GM and Ford engines, so always favored Chrysler and Nash cars. Mom and Dad could never afford new cars, so we always got "tried and true cream puff" used cars.

They were really proud to have been able to get that used Mercedes. Later they had an early Honda CVCC and a 1970s Renault.

Mom kept the Renault until she died in 1982; Dad kept the Honda until he died in 1987.

Cool flashbacks! Mine started with a 196x beetle, a 1973 Dodge Polara, a 1981 Renault 18i...

First new car that my parents purchased was a 1973 trans am with a 455 and 4speed.
There might be a corollary to this thread: What is the first car your parents let you drive? (For me it was a mk2 Golf - non-GTI)

me? the '55 Dodge!

(Scared my mom half to death when I tried to park ...)

The family car was always off limits for me.

'60 Karmann Ghia.

First car for me was my grandfather's '50 Plymouth.

I first drove the family 1968 LTD wagon home from church (I was 11 :p )

The first family car I ever drove was a 1953 Chevy two door that my mother had bought new before she met my dad. One of my brothers still has that car!

The car that I had my drivers test in was dads Buick Century! He said if I can pass the test in it, I could drive anything!. I passed! :applause:
It was a tank compared to todays cars.
