The Cortina Estate Chronicles

Doug, Since you have only 3 cars in your class at this point, YOU are a winner! I really doubt that we will see another Cortina drive through the gate. We were racing at Sonoma last march in our Cortina and Sunday morning the differential starting making noise. As we were discussing what to do, a Mk1 Cortina drove by. Who knows, what will show up! Jerry

I was joking about a trophy.I never plan on winning one anyway.
I probably know the owner of the MKI.
I hope that wasn't my rear end.

- Doug

Got the wiring figured out,& the Lotus Cortina rims on.I think that I'm almost ready to go. Found out that my wheel/tire won't fit in the spare holder."Like driving around with no spare"....... - Doug

I made the trip down to the Dixon British Car Meet.
A few problems - but made it there & back.
I won't post anymore,unless there's an interest.
If anyone's interested in the details, then please let me know.

- Doug

Of course there's am interest - sheesh - that and the need for pics

If I was smart enough,I would post pictures - but I'm not.On the MGE,I could post pictures directly, but this sight won't takemy size of images,so you'll have to deal with my stupidity. I'll probably post an update in "The Pub". - Doug

Doug, if you want, email me pictures and I will post them. johnpetersmit "at" yahoo.com

Two weeks ago,the rear main seal went out.The car's in the driveway-
trans pulled, awaiting someone smart enough to put it all together.

- Doug

Got it back together - now I've got an exhaust manifold leak.
The proper gasket's $19.95,& will take a week to get,or I can get
it delivered faster - for another $20.00!

- Doug

Got the exhaust manifold gasket installed - got new studs & nuts.
Over $68.00!,but it runs!

$68 sounds like a bargain, all things considered - congrats!

I've using it as a daily driver since I got it going.
Still have to go through the front/rear suspension, plus a
lot of little things need to be done.
I encouraged by the amount of positive comments
that I've gotten on it.I was in the turn lane,at a Red light,
when someone honked at me.I thought that it was probably
someone that I know,but when I looked over,it was a young
guy in an older Honda Accord.

- Doug

I've been using it as a daily driver, also take it to fire calls, accidents, etc.,where I do traffic control for our department.I've had a number of people come up withtheir cell phones, & cameras,& take pictures of it. I have a couple of favorite answers for questions, when people inquire about it. Q.- "What kind of car is that?" A.- "It's a White car" Q.- "What year is it?" A.- "Why it's 2013,isn't it?" - Doug

A few pictures of Doug's car.
