The cool stuff you can find in the attic!

While rummaging around in the attic looking for an old book.

i discovered my dad's old Argus camera! Haven't seen it in 40 years.
he loved that ole 35mm. I remember him futzing with the f-stop, shutter speed, focus & waving the light meter around and setting the flash. His picture rarely came out well, but that never stopped him from being a dedicated camera bug.

best of all: I think it still has film in it!

I still have my dad's Leica M-1 (with separate Weston light-meter). I learned photography with it. Not sure where I'd even develop film these days.

I was feeling a little introspective today so I was looking at mom-in-law's jewelry box. I noticed something wedged in the ring part. Reached in with a paring knife and out came 2 gold bands. They were mom and dad-in-laws original wedding bands which were replaced with new. Didn't expect that. :sorrow:

unexpected but lovely. My father in law was a mover - and each year the company had an auction for unclaimed furniture and unpaid storage - my sister in law bought a teapot for a buck and found an eternity band ring wedged in the neck. As the bosses daughter they tried to locate the owner but by then it was too late, so, she still has the ring

Dad's Ansco takes beautiful images. As a little kid uncomfortable in dress-up clothes it seemed that the light meter ritual took all day. I used it for b&w and did my own darkroom stuff but never used that *&$! meter.

What I used as a news photog for a few years, back in the mid and late '60's. Still have one and a couple lenses.
