The Beer Run

My condolences, Gundy.

Turns out I can't be there either; gotta work on Saturday. Guess my long week isn't over yet. :frown: Gonna be a great day for a drive too.

Make sure somebody takes pics!

I still plan on being there. I might sleep later and catch the bunch at Ingles at 10:30. Gundy, man what can I say. I just got back sunday from my wife's grandma's funeral. All the best to you and your wife. Hope to see and ride with you again some time. I got the last of the roofing shingles hauled off today and tomorrow I hope I can mow my grass and saturday just have some fun and ride the MG. So, do we have a roll call of who all is going to be there?

Awesome ride today Hap. I decided at the last minute to take the Interstate back to the house and that was a mistake, I lost a nice cap that I bought at the sprite 50th. I need to give the midget a good wash tomorrow and then find out what is going on with the switch. When I start the car and have the ignition on, I don't have accessory power and then if I turn it back to accessory, I don't have ignition. Not a big deal except that accessory also powers the electric fan. One good thing. The car never did run really hot, even when I ran 70-75 on the interstate for 60 miles or so on the way back and that was after running down to dilsboro from topping off the water on the parkway. It really looked like it didn't need much water at all up there at the parkway when I opened it up. The water that was leaking might just have been because I overfilled it before I left the house and the thermal expansion made some water come out the cap when I stopped up there. Still it does use some water and I will have to deal with that but removing that thermostat does seem to have helped it out quite a bit. By that I mean that it runs cooler most of the time and it takes it longer to heat up then. Plus It didn't even heat up with no fan, but then you shouldn't need one on the interstate.

Howdy Folks,

I got back from PA late yesterday evening & was looking forward to reading all about the "Beer Run" adventures & I get shocked!

David, Really sorry to hear about your loss. My sympathy to Lynn.

So Folks, How many people turned out for the Run? Who has some pics? Hap, Lets plan another one real soon.

Regards to All,

Russ

I had planned to be there but wife came down with a 'bug' and, so no go. Sorry I missed but those that were there need to tell the stories, post the pictures.

Drinkin' beer an tellin' lies; an old Southern Tradition.

Russ, it was three cars, no big turn out, alot of folks planning on coming had to cancel at the last minute for one reason or another others, oh well the view always the same up front for me  Sometimes you get big crowds, whch sometime can be a PITA,and then sometimes you get a handful and either can be fun, yesterday was fun, the weather was unfreaking believeable for Carolina in August, pretty cool up around 5-6K feet, we all picked and ate blackberrys and blueberrys up on top of the mountian, berry picking is favorite pastime on the Parkway, no one had no mechanical issues, well Kim's car hic-upped once, but it behaved itself for the most part.

Ah maybe we it was for the best as I discovered a different restuarant up there this trip, alot better then the BBQ place anyway, Mill and Main, in downtown Sylva, burgers and pizza to die for.

I double yellow passed some real slugs on the way back on hwy 276, which totally ticked off my "rev limiter", the wifey, but what the hey, I don't drive 20 mph thru the mountains for no one

I brought a camera but forgot all about the pictures. Saturday ended up being a hoot. After I got home the wife cam home hungry and we decided to drive down to Spartanburg to the Beacon and get some burgers A-plenty. My god that was a lot of food on one plate and there is no place like the Beacon. Best ice tea, ever made. We should have a meet up down there once it gets too cold up here
