Wedge the ants moved in to my tr7 fhc

For some reason a colony of ants have decided that it's entertaining to crawl all over my fhc. I moved the car spay with bug spray and they still find it. I tried an ant bomb inside, but they don't seem to be inside, only crawling on the roof and rear deck. I can't figure out what they are doing because I don't keep food in my car, they aren't inside the trunk, passenger compartment, or engine bay.

any ideas?
 
RVers typically lay an rectangle of something on the ground surrounding each tire to keep ants away (since they have to cross the stuff to get to a tire and climb up to the rest of the car).

I think Comet cleanser is one of the things they use. A Google may reveal other chemicals that can be laid down in that fashion too.

As for what they are doing... most stuff animals do is about 1) love or 2) food. Is there a lot of pollen in your area? Does the car appear to be dusty?
 
Is there some sort of sugary sap landing on your car? Just a far out idea.
 
Is it yellow? Insects are attracted to yellow the same way humming birds are to red. I painted the yellow race car in the driveway one time and the bees kept sticking to the fresh paint. A buddy of mine was removing them with double sided tape as I was spraying. Add tree sap to yellow paint and you have the ultimate bug attractor.
 
well my car is white, but I didn't think of what I parked near. there is a fig tree hanging over the fence and it is bearing fruit. I don't see any sap or fig drippings on the car, but I'll try a good washing and see if that helps. Thanks!
 
Ants are attracted to heated Surfaced too. Also Ant you chemical Hwyways. does it seem that there are always moving? or they just running around in confusion?. you may have parked you car on one of there hwys and there just passing over it to get to something else. maybe the fig tree.
 
they've moved on. I parked my range rover in that spot and the ants left it alone.
