I'll bet Basil never realized the full extent of BCF's magic.
For several years I've complained to Spectrum (my TV/telephone/internet provider) about slow internet speeds. They've sent tech guys out, always reporting "the problem is farther up the line - we'll have to check".
Yesterday I polled BCF Pub folk on internet speeds. Many were close to 100 download; I've been 15 to 20 max for many years.
This morning I called Spectrum (always great fun). Reported the issue again, and even told them my next door neighbor's Spectrum download speed (90 mbps).
Spectrum rep said "Oh, that's because you were grandfathered in during our last service upgrade several years ago. Your service plan has always had a maximum download speed of 15 mbps."
15 mbps! Yikes! Never knew my $50/mo internet had been limited to 15. Yeesh!
So the rep did a real-time upgrade - no charge. Also sending me a new cable modem to support up to 100 mbps, no charge. Monthly total will be $5 less than it is now.
Finished the call and did another speed test. Even without the new modem, download is now 46 mbps, upload 10.5.
Must have been the BCF influence. In all my previous calls to Spectrum, nothing changed until I did the poll here on BCF.
Basil has more powers than we knew.
