Just a suggestion...
I know I am carrying on with this mini stuff but from my experience when everybody in the airforce had some kind of little british banger that I got to drive, The 1000 was the perfect motor for the mini. The smaller ones were too weak and you had to stay in the gas all the time which hurt fuel economy and the 1275 was too much and you end up hot rodding it a bunch and it hurt fuel economy. The 1000 was perfect for gas mileage and performance. We could get 65-70 miles to the imperial gallon. :techman: Gas was real expensive over there on the economy back then and that was 20 years ago.
