Indulge me here, a little.....
Monday evening I come home, we have received a card in the mail giving us a free entree when you buy one, at our local Bravo Italian Restaurant. So, we decide to drive up there, it's located at the nearby mall, outside.
Normally parking there is a nightmare, but we pull in to the end of the row right outside the front doors. Only spot open. Walking in, no-one is waiting, they take us right to a table at the front by the windows, so we can see out. That never happens, either. Wife suggests that we buy a lottery ticket. I laugh.
Tuesday, I go get a haircut at lunchtime. I get a 25% discount because two guys I sent in have become customers. Leaving there I walk a couple of doors down to Panera Bread, where I am a regular (it's right by my office),order lunch, and the manger on duty says "It's on us today Steve".......who said there is no such thing as a free lunch?
That evening on the way home, I stop and buy a bottle of Captain Morgan for SWMBO, and I decide that I will buy that lottery ticket.
Wednesday evening comes the draw, Wisconsin Megabucks, jackpot of "only" 6.8 mil. I match 5 of 6, $500!
Not the whole enchilada, (that E-Type I always wanted would have been high on the to-do list) but still, nice to have some luck go my way, for a change.
