I bought a rebuilt 25D4 distributor from Jeff and it arrived today. In 30 minutes it was installed on the engine. Set timing at 15 degrees. The slight shaking at idle is gone! The engine runs smoother than it has in a long time. It accelerates smoother without any hesitation. I wish I had contacted him before. Also it looks like brand new! Thanks Jeff, you do great work!

I have two of his distributors in a cabinet waiting for installation. He's a very pleasant guy to deal with.
 
I have one of his reworked distributors in my 75 and the engine went from running what I thought was great to absolutely fantastic. Smoother and some gain felt in the butt dyno. He will be doing the distributor in my 73 this winter.
 
I'm going to have to break down and send one of my extra distributors to Jeff. That way I can join the ever growing list of people with excellent distributors. Kind of like the list of Jimmy Hilton carbs. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
 
One thing about these superstars of car components is that they take the thunder away from other people who do the same work but don't post on all the forums. For example, Joe Curto has been one of the leading gurus of carb rebuilds for a very long time, but he doesn't advertise himself like Jimmy does. That doesn't mean Jimmy isn't good, but it's interesting how celebrity status affects people in places we wouldn't expect, like car part rebuilding. Over the years I've seen the same thing happen in gauge restoration, distributors, cylinder heads, electrical components, engine builds, lever shocks, wire wheels, and the list goes on and on! So much talent out there but so little advertising effort by some when compared to their competitors.
 
I just wish there was a definitive list of people who do work on the stuff in our cars. It would help some of us find other sources for repairs/rebuilds.

I know my shocks could use a going over, but the only people that I have heard of is Apple Hydraulics.

Whatever you need, post the question. The problem with a definitive list is that different companies offer slightly different services. For example, Peter Caldwell would be my first choice for MGB shocks. But for my Y-Type I go elsewhere because Peter isn't set up for it. I use two or three different restorers for gauges. I use two people for distributors, depending on the type / age.

You won't find a better shock than a rebuilt unit from Peter of Worldwide Imports. That includes brand new ones. His are better than new, partly because of the double lip seal modification.

What's with SUPER STARS? Does it make anyone a super star just because you compliment them for doing excellent work? I don't think so. It also doesn't mean that someone else is being put down just because you don't include him or her in the conversation. I compliment anyone who does nice work and that doesn't mean I'm putting them on a pedestal. It just means I'm complimenting them for doing nice work!-----Anything wrong with that?

A superstar typically means someone who is famous. It has nothing to do with their ability to perform their job. Substitute "superstar" with "well known" if you feel it sounds better.

The wife and I just drove the car on a 150 mile round trip to Wilmington, NC and it performed flawlessly.
