Words cannot express my appreciation to all the guys that showed up to help me get my engine installed and fired up at the N.O.S.H.I.T II. I so appreciate them taking the time to share their knowledge and skill when it comes to helping out a fellow Spridget enthusiast. I would also like to thank the wives of these guys for allowing it to happen. I know it is a sacrifice on their part also to give up a great weekend day for us to accomplish what we were able to today. My wife is currently at the Casino after spending a long, hard, day with the kids!

I'm pretty tired now, so please forgive me if I missed anyone. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

As for the work accomplished:

We were able to build my 1275 from a short block to a complete engine. BillM, Phill Jones, and BillL restored a pair of SU HS2 carbs to install so I no longer have the Weber! We then mated it to the transmission, installed them into the car, and fired it up. The Lion's share of the work has been completed. I only have a few small tasks to complete until it's ready for it's maiden voyage. Keep in mind that I have never been able to drive this car, so I'm pretty excited to be at this stage in the restoration. It's all thanks to a fantastic group of guys who are passionate enough about these great little cars to help a fellow enthusiast out.

It's really amazing what a group of knowledgeable gearheads
can get accomplished in a short amount of time.
Our Land Cruiser club sponsors what we call HAMAM (help a member
a month) sessions.
Those in need of a crew put their names on a list and each
month a horde descends on a chosen project.
Lucky member furnishes food and beverages.
The camaraderie is great and it's a chance to improve everybody's gear I.Q. too.
I know ya'll had a great time. Kudos on getting so much accomplished!

More like the neighborhood adults! One neighbor came by and said he used to own and work on them for a living. Sold all is LBCs when he got married and bought the mini van. I think we inspired him to get back into it. It was a nice opportunity to share with neighbors I have never met. He hung out for hours and watched. Another neighbor just sold his beautiful, restored Model A Ford. He showed me a pic of himself in Disco 70's garb in front of his RB MGB. He really wants to get another one. One of the "spectators" from my club happens to have two B's for sale, so they are going to get together. I think another get together will be in order if he acquires one! I love this stuff!

150 miles up, 150 miles back = 300 miles of smiles. Ed threw a great shindig, we all had a chance to swap knowledge and lies. A great time was had by all.

I may have to throw one of my own just to get that windscreen installed!
