I bought my Bugeye for a hundred dollars many years ago. I admit I was very naive in estimating all the work that would be required. I am a novice, and I was just about to give up when I discovered BCM. I lost count long ago on all of you that helped me. Sometimes it was just a line or two of advice that got me going again. Other times it was teaching me in Bugeye 101 class. I don't think I have said it enough, so thank all of you so much. I also wanted to thank Basil for providing this site. I can honestly say this car would not be on the road if it were not for your site. I just took pics for insurance, and then I will be scheduling a front end alignment. Then its on the road!I still have a small punch list of things to do, but then again as some of you pointed out, is it really possible to be done with a Bugeye?

Car looks beautiful. No let me say incredible. Alignment can be done with tape measure and string. BE Track is too narrow to fit on most laignment ramps

Are you coming to the get together next Saturday?
There will be a lot of guys there who know how to do a Bugeye alignment!
Besides I can't wait to see your car in person!

wow, looks great! now I wish my car was done

Well done. Great to see another Bugeye on the road.

Awesome! Maybe I'll be lucky enough to spot this one around WA.

Allow me to thank everyone here in advance. I have only had my bugeye since November, and the advice and guidance received thus far has been worth its weight in gold (a lot of gold, btw).

Cheers!

Thanks for the compliments everyone. If my insurance is completed, Rick, I plan on driving the Bugeye there. That would be great to get a little help on the alignment, too. Except for the paint (I did sand blast and did most of welding), I have done everthing myself. I admit I am a little nervous about driving it that far already. So far the farthest I have driven it is down the street. But, hey, no guts no glory, right?

Well if it makes it to Phil's house there will be a lot of help available.
So that's going to be a kind of shake-out drive.

I remember doing that with my Mk2. I found a lot of things that needed attention...
Drivers door wouldn't stay closed around corners and oil pressure gauge leaking oil on my knee. A very interesting combination!

Ummmm Rick...... your my bro and everything....but I think your car was trying to tell you something. :jester:

That looks awesome! congrats, the very first car I ever truly fell in love was a bugeye painted that colour - you've dome yourself proud and, yes, this place is awesome! Got me & Miss Triss on the road.

Well done. A fine example for all to smile at.

Well done, Kev! It looks bespoke. Now you get to enjoy it, in-between the times it confounds you. :jester:

It'll be FINE. Done once, right, the things are just about as dependable as a house-brick: No surprises, it just FUNCTIONS.

And Jack's right. People will see it, wave and smile. Congrats!

Oh yes, it was telling me something all right.
It was telling me that it was very happy I had bought it a donor car from which it could get parts that fit correctly.
It was saying hey, look at this oil pressure gauge, get it hooked up right so the motor doesn't die a horrible low pressure death.
It was saying it's not really good enough to run and drive and have good brakes - you should also go ahead and order some seat belts because you can't do any of those driving and braking things if you can't stay in the car!!!
