TR6 TEX DOOR MIRROR VS BULLET MIRROR TR6

If any of you do eventually get yourselves a set of these Viewmasters, be forewarned that the adjustment on the driver's side can strangely be tight. Meaning, the mirror base covers the old bullet style base nicely, even though the hole pattern is a little larger and a new hole will have to be drilled in your door. (Not an issue, just make sure that you dollop a little paint in the old hole under the base.) The outward adjustment just didn't go out far enough for my big head. The mirror screws onto the neck with a sliding nut over a shaft. I took two thin copper washers that fit neatly over this shaft and distorted them into a cup shape with the round end of a ball peen hammer to fit the round ball end at the mirror itself. Before sliding the two washers over the shaft, I heated them and dropped a bit of solder on them to make one thicker, cup-shaped washer to give me adequate adjustability. The solder added a bit of friction to prevent the mirror from going out of adjustment once tightened. If none of this makes sense, it will once you get the mirrors. I sit as far back in my seat as possible (picture a dude riding around in a deuce-and-a-quarter with 22" rims) and needed all the throw I could get with my mirror.
 
How bout sticking 1.59$ parabolic mirror for better visibilty...

That is just what I did in the 60's on my first TR4 and again on the six. And will do again when I get the beats back together.

Works great!

Was illegal at one time in Calif. Didn't care then, don't now.
