Oh, and step by step.
Drop your photo right onto your desktop with your digital camera. I usually rename it with a short, pertenant name.
Photobucket allows me to download off my desktop to their site.
With the https:// name they
assign to it, you just go to "image" on the BCF posting site and type in the name photobucket assigned the photo. Blip! It's there. I don't think that you can delete the pic off your desktop or the pic will disappear off your posting. I just leave them on my desktop for a few weeks till it gets stale. (no snide remarks here, please)

Tinster, when you are logged into BCF, at the top of the page where you choose "FORUMS" to get to the Forums, there is also a link for "FAQ". This is for 'Frequently Asked Questions', when you select that link it will bring up several topics (hint: whenever you are on a new site, the FAQ sections are tremendously helpful). One of them is on adding images to your posts. It covers in detail the differences between attaching a link to a photo vs. actually having the photo appear in the body of your post.
One of the keys for images in the body of your post is that the images must be hosted somewhere on the internet, not just on your computer. Sites such as Bill recommended are great for this.
If yo udon't feel like reading the FAQ, then on the reply page, under the text box that you type in, there are three sections. 'Instant Graemlins' (the smiley faces and such), 'Instant UBB Code' and 'Font Color'. Look at the 'Instant UBB Code' section. On the top line you will see 'URL', 'Email' and 'Image'. 'URL' is good for posting a hotlink to a website but renaming it in your post so the whole URL isn't thrown into your text (which makes for easier reading). 'Image' will allow you to post an image in the body of the text. When you select 'Image', another dialog box will appear. Place the URL of the image into that box and select 'OK'. If your image has a valid URL, not your harddrive, then it will appear in the body of your post.

Bill once the photo has been uploaded to photobucket it does not need to stay on your desktop. The image is then on the photobucket site and not "linked" to your computer anymore. You can delete it from your desktop. Or, you can start filing images away and keep your desktop a little less messy.

The first couple of times I tried it, I got the same result as you. Just the URL showing up. I finally figured out that the image size was too large for a direct post. Once I resized it, it launched perfectly.
Wish I could say the same for the Spit. It got rearended at the start of the race and the rear valence now looks like the negative impression of a Porsche 924 nose. Oh well.
