Test drive.....problems......what now?

You've all been great to me in the past, got many things done to this car I couldn't have done without you, one more thing....
Took her out today, initial startup was flawless, let her warm up, drove around, halfway through the drive, she wanted to idle right down, almost to a stall, had to keep giving it gas to keep it afloat. I'm 99% certain that's the SU requiring some attention, but I think I can handle that....
Anyway....here's the test drive movie....

I flipped the bonnet when I got back, you'll see oil splashed up the passenger side of the engine bay, possibly from the belt or fan, it's fresh engine oil...
a, Where's it coming from?
b, Is my oil separator all messed up?

On a positive note, my fuel pump sounds healthy and my tie-rods make steering super tight!

Thanks in advance all.

Barry, take a look and make sure the hose from the timing cover breather is on tight. Then look at the timing cover seal.
Fix that exhaust hanger! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

You could hear that huh? I tighten one end, the other end comes loose, I thighten the other end, and the one end comes loose.
I'll get under there tonight, find out which one is making the noise and take care of it. TY Jeff.

First of all, it's not bloody NASCAR, you can turn right as well...
As for the oil leak: try running the engine with the bonnet up so you can see where it's coming out. If it was hitting the fan or belt wouldn't it flick it around to more than one area? An inspection mirror may be $10 well spent at this point!
Check that the exhaust is all tightened up, if there's a leak it could cause a lack of back pressure which may explain some of the rev drop-offs. Other than the noisy exhaust bracket, looks good! So glad you got that mounting bracket, would have been a shame to drill/weld into that midget, it's way to good to get butchered!

Yeah, I forgot some exhaust bits were loosened when I took the head off, I didn't go through my 'refitting is the reverse of removal' checklist /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif. That rattle is sorted anyway.
I ran it again, for five minutes before it died and couldn't nail down an exact spot where the leak is, so I'll just replace the seal as Jeff said and see what happens there.
These carbs are killing me. I'll thrash the pants off the car this weekend, then try and hit up some sidedraft webers. I think I figured out what SU stands for...... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

SU's are to make it sing. The little engines love SU's.
