Yesterday I had my scanner on at my shop when the emer. sound came on reporting a head-on crash. They then went to a discreet channel but we heard multiple units responding..this was about 1115am. An hour or so later my daughter, who works as an executive asst. for a local cellular comp. called me to say she had been visiting one of the company stores just acroos the border in Texas and was returning to her headquarters building when she saw a plume of black smoke just ahead of her. Seconds later she rolled up to the carnage where she saw a woman lying in the road and her husband standing dazed next to a destroyed vehicle. She ran to the lady and then to the man, both injured but non life threatening. She then saw what looked like a sports car upright but totally destroyed and on fire about 30feet or so out in a field. She ran to it and found the passenger terribly injured hanging from the door with the seat belt around his neck. She secred him and got a weak pulse. She then ran to the driver who was also bad..pulse but a blown pupil. At that time another motorist pulled up and they got the passenger out. Another man puled up and they tried to remove the driver but had to enter through the passenger side and started cutting the seat belt...thats when the gas tank blew. It forced them back for a short time but using an extinguiser finally got the driver out. She held his head still and talked to him until EMS got there. They had her hold his head and push IV fluid and then the chopper landed. She held him as they loaded him and took him to a trauma center in Tx. After that she returned to work and called me, her mother and her brother. As of this moment everyone is alive but the two young men are critical. We're proud that we raised a level headed, caring daughter...not afraid to do whats right.
