As so many of us have confronted over the years, we have to "log in" to use online accounts, so we can "Go paperless!".
This morning I needed to see if a payment had arrived in the bank account. So I logged in and entered password.
F L A S H! Wham-O! Gazinga!
A window covered my account summary page. It notified me that I must agree to the bank's "Terms and Conditions" before I could proceed.
OK - I realize that's common, and most of us don't really read all the text before we click "Agree".
But my bank's page said "Click here to read and agree to the Terms and Conditions" - which are 60 pages long.
I wonder how many people just click "Agree" to proceed, not knowing what they're agreeing with, and what other companies their personal information is actually shared with.
yeesh
I called the bank, and learned they're getting dozens of complaints - but that Terms and Conditions isn't from the bank. It's from the megacorp which serves online banks coast to coast.
(And yes the payment had arrived in the account.)
