While driving in Tenn.,I noticed a few things...

* There seems to be no speed limit on the interstate, plus
you rarely see a State Trooper.

* A Mercury Marquis rental car looks just like a Crown Victoria
police car in the dark - truckers slow down for you.

* Almost nobody uses turn signals.

* The big fireworks stores also sell gasoline.

* Tornados can do a lot of damage.

* People there seem to be very friendly, overall.

* Five Guys is the place to go for burgers.

Don't order a large fry if your going solo

Some say that the best thing about Tennessee is that it used to be part of Virginia.

Back to my hole now . . . :square:

I think he's at some meeting somewhere. He'll pipe in and chastise us later.

Probably meeting with the BIG guy.

When I drove thru Tennessee last spring I observed that everyone drove in the left lane, all the way to South Carolina. :madder: When we got back into Southern Illinois they started moving over again.

Hopefully not an ON SITE meeting!! LoL

Buncha losers!

I'm sitting in a coffee shop in Townsend, Tenn. Nothing to see but mountains and the occasional motorcycle and classic car tooling along the Parkway.

Say what you will about Tenneessee. Hard to beat the climate and the pace of life.

Lousy drivers are ubiquitous.

Coffee's good. Beer's gonna be better later today.

So, what are YOU doing about now?

No question that the Dead got it right: Tennessee, Tennessee, ain't no place I'd rather be.

My beloved wife is from Chattanooga, and I love Tennessee! Great countryside, cities with character, amazing music, and you're totally right about the pace of life. What's not to love?

Funny, how denizens of some states love to pick on other states. Growing up in VA, I can't tell you how many (really bad) West VA jokes I've heard. And being from SW VA, I've heard more than my share of TN and KY jokes, too.

All in good fun. In fact, down here in the South there's actually a lot of comraderie among the states. Heck, some of our ancestors fought side by side in The War (e.g., Civil).

That practically makes Virginians and folks from the Volunteer State cousins, no?

How's it goin', cuz???

Interestingly enough, all of the jokes I hear about West Virginia in the DC metro area are also told in Vermont, by Vermonters, about a little town in Vermont called Hardwick. For example, how do you know the tooth brush was invented in Hardwick?

Here in the Great NW. It's Oregon the ugly step child
