So... I was at Market Collective on Sunday, a place where I go every month to browse local indie artists, hear music, and just simply catch the local arts scene vibe...

And then there was this...

A 1977 Mercedes-Benz 280E offered for $1,000 by one of the Market organizers - the gas engine of course, so I need this like I need a hole in my head and I'm not all that tempted, or... :driving:

So now, what are you waiting for?

(PS - that's not a really desirable Mercedes ... but you could sell it for parts and get a good one. Say, late 1950s, early 1960s ...)

Thanks for the hole in the head...

Yeah, I do know this isn't one of the most desirable examples of a Mercedes... It's all in the eye of the beholder...

I'd love one that vintage, but it'd have to be a diesel. and preferably a wagon.

Actually that is a fine Mercedes. The 123 Body did rust a bit but mostly it was the Station Wagon. the 2.8 engine is the twin cam, quite nice if it runs well. The diesel was stronger, but without turbo drove like a turd. Personally I wouldn't have the 126 body of the same era. Too big and complicated.
