TR2/3/3A Temporary turn signal hack???

I would like to rig up an SPDT 3 way toggle switch to operate my turn signals while I repair the steering control head. Is it possible to run the green/white wire to one side of the switch terminal and the green/red wire to the other side of the switch terminal ? Could I then run a lime green/red wire for the flasher to each side of those terminals? I assume that the middle terminal would be ground. Would this work? Not sure about the flasher hook up? Anyone familiar enough with the TR3 wiring to know if this is doable? Karl
 
My TR came with the mod you describe. The toggle is located below the OD switch which is also a toggle. I have a new control head but have yet to install it. I took me a while to remember to turn off the turn signal after making the turn. It's habit now. As far as the wire colors and how they are connected I really don't have a clue. It works and I'm ok with it even though it's not original.
 
Yes, you should be able to do that. If you can find a wiring diagram to a Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite, that is the way they came from the factory.
 
That should work. Be sure to get a switch with a center off position and rated for at least 6 amps DC. DC ratings are often a little hard to find; most ratings are for AC. DC ratings are invariably much lower than the AC ones.
 
I used a mini guitar switch for the turn signals and a heavy duty push button for the horn mounted on the underside of the dash by my right knee for years after a frayed fan belt took out my original wiring. I just repaired all of that back to original. I think I still have it all, color coded wires that reach out to the driver’s side horn to the original harness connections. Let me look in the garage mahal. It’s all yours if you need it, pass the favor to the next person.
