I bought a Smiths temperature gauge that is from a Cobra that has the face and lettering that looks very much like the original TR3 gauge. It seems to function OK in that the dial moves but the temperature reading is not accurate. Where can I send it to get re calibrated that wont cost me several hundred?:p

Do it yourself. It’s about a 30 minute project for free. Nisonger and West Coast will want gold dabloons

In this thread I calibrated the temp gage in the kitchen. Later I overheated the car and the gage popped off the bellows, so I re-calibrated IN the car, as I didn’t feel like removing the entire capillary tube again.

Remove the chrome bezel ring by twisting it, so the locking tabs line up with the open slots on the housing. Then the bezel, glass, and seal pop off. You can slide the painted face out and see how simple the gage is. By alternating the temp bulb from boiling water and room temp you can bend the little wire on the bellows to engage the needle and eventually get the correct range from minimum to 212 degrees.
