'72 GT 6 engine in a '69 Spit body = Spit 6

it also equals a great deal of headaches for the third owner after an incomplete, or inadequate transplant.

the guy that started it, didn't finish, and the guy after that didn't know what to do.

Now, I have all that is left, and no Previous Owner to ask.

The Haynes manual is all i have to go by, and it does not show me where the temperature sending unit is supposed to go. I cannot locate it on the running engine, but gotta believe that the mounting hole has been blocked off by a bolt.

can someone steer me in the right direction? Description of the location, post a picture.

Andy's got it. The GT6 2.0litre is identical to the the TR6 in this area. Here is a detail page form a Victoria British Catalog page showing it.
 
thanks guys. don't know why i didn't think to look in the VB catalogue (duh).
 
These temp gauges can be very tempermental. My son and I restored a TR6 several yrs ago and always waorried about the high temp. Changed gauges, sending units, wiring and finally shot the motor with a thermal heat gauge and found that it wasn't an overheating issue, just an unsolved issue.

I asked the same question in two different directions on the same day. Beside, this helps me increase my posting counts to get up to that magical "Jedi Warrior" status you are so lucky to carry on your signature!!

and, i found the unit! in place, but with no wire connected. might be a clue here as to why the temp gauge doesn't work, 'eh?

If only i had gotten more done during the winter....i could have driven the Spit to your place this past weekend. Oh, well, maybe in July for the Ledges cruise in, 'eh?

Hope you do well with reducing your inventory. Stop on down to nearly Indiana some day, I'll treat you to an ice cream cone.
