Myestery solved, problem discovered.

Now I know what that loose green wire was supposed to attach to.

Unfortunatly it looks like the male end of the temperature sender has snapped off.

Is this worth trying to repair or should i just replace the sender. (and if that is the case, are these the type of products i should order 2 of?)

Na, one will do it for the next 20 years.
 
Cheap to buy and easy to install, also. How often ya hear that?
