Spent the evening changing 4 water hose clamps in an attempt to stop a minor water leak that just bugged the heck out of me... It was on the two hoses and pipe to the bottom of the raditor... I ran it for over 30 minutes and did not see a leak... I hope it's gone.. I also changed the headlight gasket on the passenger side and twisted several caged nuts. TRF has the nuts and they are on order along with new rings from Moss. Wife said: "I thought you were finished with that thing, what are you ordering now!".

I'm taking it to work tomorrow and for a long drive after work.. Fingers are crossed!
 
It does. I bought mine six years and about 30,000 miles ago. There was a little bit of sorting out, but only a little, and I just drive it. Once you get it reliable it will stay that way for a long time. For example, except for topping up the oil now and then, I've never touched the carburetors.
Stick with it.
 
Never stops, thats why it is a hobby. Do you need the nuts or the cages or both. I have some left over from my body work so would be happy to send you what you might need.

NO. As soon as when you get the things it needs done, then you have the things you want done. It's the LBC curse, but it's a good curse.

Do golfers quit after having a good round or bad round? Do painters quit after finishing one or two or ten paintings? Hardly, they keep trying to improve the next time they do something or play another round.

Gently tell your wife it's like a good marriage. You're in it for the long run, not just one dress up dance.

When my wife starts asking about what I keep buying or doing to the TR6, I head for the country club and play 18 or 27 holes. That way she doesn't think that I'm becoming obsessive about the car.

Not really but it sure is a heck of a lot of fun getting there! Sometimes. Sometimes not.

I forgot if you went with rack and pinion steering? If you did this is not an issue. That metal tube between the hoses will rub on the center tie rod when you turn the steering wheel from lock to lock if the hoses and the tube are not positioned correctly. If it is rubbing it may explain the leakage.

Yes, that was part of what I was fixing tonight. The rack and pinion bolt was hitting the solid pipe. I shortened the top hose a 1/2 inch and I think I have clearence now... I'll see tomorrow...

No different than hunting or fishing. How about a $40k or $50k bass boat added to all the other costs? Always something!

Think what it would cost to keep our family sedan in the kind of shape we like to keep our LBC in. And which is more fun?

Besides, Shirley would not stand for me neglecting our LBC!

As my costs approached $40K, I had pretty much given up
on dead Crypty and I so bought one of those boats. Down
here we call them tarpon boats.

I spent a month having the boat customized to my needs.
Went tarpon fishing for the first time this past Monday.
Brand new Mercury 115 hp broke down and my new boat is
in the Mercury warranty repair shop for who knows how
many weeks. Not even ten hours of use.

Always something. Boys and their expensive toys.

I hear ya Paul,...when a wheel falls off my $500.00 piece of crap TR,I hop into my lear jet and spend the weekend in the south of France.

I'm thinking maybe my next red vehicle might
be a WWII surplus Navy blimp. Not too many
moving parts to break down.
