Well folks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif...I'm almost finished stripping down my 66 Midget. I would have to estimate that at least 50% of the bolts and screws I removed just snapped off from rust damage.

On the other hand, I found a friend of my brother's that is a paint and body guy. He has agreed to give it sweet showcar paint job and help me with the body work. All I have to do is pay for supplies and the occasional beer for him. This guy is about to become a friend of mine as well.

I just wanted to drop you Brit car fans a line and give you an update.

My wife is sick of hearing about it. HAHAHA

Later,

Hey Don, how about some pictures.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gifAlright, I've got some pics on my site of the Midget during teardown.

They are on page one and two of the following link:

Enjoy! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Don,

Looks like you'll have a lot of fun, especially with your "helpers" around.

About your nut proplem, did you try soaking them first?

Rad

I soaked them in PB Blaster penetrating oil. That's the best stuff I know of. Although I will admit to a certain degree of impatience on my part.

Thanks for checking out my progress.

I've found it always refreshing to re-assemble with brand new, shiny, virgin fasteners. At least on the engine anyway. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good luck to you Don!

I'm in the middle of that as well with my 63 Midget. It was sitting out in a field for some 20 years. Maybe we can be roommates at the mental institution by your house. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
