TEAMSPRITE car on EBAY! $30k

really going for the $ record isn't he

22-23k

I think

not sure I agree - maybe not for that price but I'd sure love to see her loved and driven.

seems to me the person who bought it is just trying to turn a profit I know what you mean by loved and driven but he put 10 miles on it come on

The higher the better for all of us with Bugeyes. As the pristine examples are sold for higher and higher amounts the scale for which we are all judged must change. I for one love knowing that my car will only increase in value.

He should have started the auction at a lower opening price. I doubt he gets a bid with this first attempt. The car is beautiful but there aren't that many people out there who know the story as personally as us.

I understand it raises the mark for those who own "perfect" examples of a type of car but most of don't it just seems wrong like some of the idiots at Barrett-Jackson and some of those high end auctions w/people who have more money than brains just cause its E-bay people try to get more money than its worth not that the Team Sprite car is not a great car

As fine as it is I see three things just off hand.

Hub Cap AH painted.

Valve cover bolts chromed.

Windsheld wiper mis adjusted.

Gas tank cap painted improperly, goes clear to the edges.

It is fine fine though, but that price, I think not.

off the hard work and inspiration of someone else - who really deserves the money.
If the seller makes $9k, I'm sure he/she will gladly donate 1/2 the profit back to Brian, so another car can be sought, and the lives of 10 kids can be positively affected.

I only wish that were true (Team Sprite REALLY deserve it!!!)...alas I am more cynical than that!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif

I appreciate the value of the cars rising, but I disapprove of a dealer trying to make 9 grand while not doing any work at all, off the hard work and inspiration of someone else - who really deserves the money.

It's called the Free Market. It remains to be seen what the Market will bear, however.

The truth of the matter is more people at the high end auctions lose thier butt than make money. The insanely rich drink too much of the free booze in the 'blue-blood" section and over bid on cars to show thier blue blood friends how rich they are. The prices car go for at these event does not realy reflect thier true value, but it does help us in the hobby, it doesn't mean that clpped out rusted Bugeye sitting out beside the barn is all a sudden worth $10K, but it does mean that maybe we're getting closer to the point that our cars are worth what we spend on them to restore them, and this is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Jack - now you can see why I voted "No" to the luggage rack on Miss Agatha!

I owned a 67 XKE in high school, then sold it when I joined the AF in 72 for $3000. I never dreamed I'd see them selling for 6 figures, but I have seen several go at that level. As things become older and rarer, and more people want to re-live their youth, then prices will climb. Look at how much some of the 70's muscle cars are selling for these days! Yikes!

Ok, first on price. I personally own a pretty decent example, so I'm ok with it /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

But more importantly...why would he be selling that car!? Geez, it's a shame that it appears his whole purpose to buy it was to turn a fast buck. You would have hoped whoever bought it in the first place did so bc of some prior love of the car and/or the whole story of how it was put together (Team Sprite)...
