I've seen the car featured in this video on my commutes a few times, and i believe i pass by the shop that this guy is working out of quite often. It's really a neat car to see in person

later in the video you get to see some of the yard art this guy has collected. There's at least 1 MGB in there!

How neat. Nice seeing one filmed in motion on the road. We saw two at The Lane Museum in Nashville this past fall. Very Cool.

He says that the Tatra T87 was the first car design to be tested in an wind tunnel, but didn't Chrysler test the Airflow design in a wind tunnel a few years earlier? Very cool car either way though; it along with the Airflow and the Stout Scarab have always fascinated me.

There's some pretty good shots of the orange Tatra 603 that always races at Goodwood here:

neither video is appearing on my computer - just a black box - any ideas?

Tatra was one of the coolest, most advanced cars of its day. Matter of fact, Czechoslovakia in the 1930s was one of the most advanced countries in Europe. The German Reich in the 1930s specifically ordered its military officers NOT to drive them, as it was faster than most other military passenger cars, and officers loved driving them wide open throttle (and thus ... died in rollovers).

On Youtube there's a video of a promotional film (in Czech) from back in the 1950s.

Early cars didn't have the best rear visibility; rear view mirror looked back through an "inner" window behind the rear seat, and then through the outer window"

Videos showed up on my ipad. I love Tatras (of course) and, love petrolicious videos. Thanks for sharing!

I've had a couple of Tatra encounters... When I lived in Ontario ten years ago, I had a personal tour of an interesting car collection near Barrie, part of the collection was an early Tatra, I believe it was a T87, just tucked into the corner of his storage area mostly covered by a tarp, far too dark to take a photo and in need of a full restoration...

Then driving one day through rural southern Alberta, on my way to a British car show, I passed by a house with a Tatra parked in front! A 1977 Tatra 613 this time, had to take a photo!

I encountered the car one other time and was able to talk to the owner, he used to live in Czechoslovakia (then all one country) and simply drove the car out of the country into western Europe and never brought it back in, he eventually moved to Canada...

And as far as I know, there aren't any Tatra's here in hinterland, too much in the middle of nowhere here...

Just watched the video, wow! Why I'm extremely envious of the SoCal folks, a collection like that is unheard of here in hinterland... A Skoda Felicia inside the shop, some other interesting car above it (can't quite place it), I think a Citroen Traction Avant next to it (seen at the end of the video), if that's his house they show on the video I love it, especially the cars in front... Hardly anything like that here... :grey:
