Looking for recommendations on original tar type battery with glass mat interior.
Also what group size should it be for a 67 BJ8.

Thanks.

Correct size, Group 27. It fits the Bakelite tray. 27f has the posts oriented opposite, if you've gone to Negative ground and still want the posts away from the metal hold down bracket.

If you're asking what I think you're asking, tar top with AGM interior, I doubt they are made. You would get one or the other.

Thanks for that. Group 24 is usually given in the cross-reference books, but if a 27 fits better all the better.

A Group 34 will also work.

Regarding the Glass mat battery. I thnk John Turney is correct. However I recall reading many moons ago that a case emulating the original Lead Acid battery was available to encace modern replacement batteries in for concourse.???

I did contact antique auto battery.
That is what I was looking for.
Plus I was wondering about the performance and life span of the batteries they offer.
