Talk about rare.......

Ya need the parts cars.... Otherwise the first time it breaks, yer stuck with Yugoslavian yard art.
I can understand the collectability of them. I don't care for Yugos, but I'd love a Crosley, or a Reliant Robin, Or an Isetta or a 2CV. I love the classic economy/Micro cars.
The other possibility is that it's been just long enough that people have forgotton how junky those Yugos were.
Shoulda been named "Dontgos"
If they had a station wagon version, it could have been called a "Wego"
If Tinster had one, it'd be called a "willitgo?" (Sorry Dale I coulden't help it)
Signing off.......hehehehehe

still regret the skoda I shoulda bought for $800 as a daily driver

Banjo!!!! LOL!! That wasn't very nice.....funny....but not nice! Of course it was said with no malice and good natured intentions....

I have always been partial to the "orphans". I got to drive something nobody else had. I had a 65 Marlin, a 69 SC/Rambler, a 70 Rebel Machine, a 72 Gremlin when all the other guys were driving Camaro's, Mustang's, etc. Parts were plentiful, if you knew where to look and what to ask for. AND insurance rates were lower! Now I drive a 63 Mini Wagon - BEFORE the new ones came out, I might add! - and by spring a 56 Mk1 Jag. Don't see many of either of those running around these days.

Hey J.P.

A Skoda you say? For some reason I've always had a soft spot for the Skoda's sold here in Canada in the 1980's...

In 1989 they sold a small number of Skoda 135 GLi models, it was special because it was a bigger engine than previously offered here, plus had the 5-speed transmission. I did some basic web research and came to the conclusion that those 1989 cars (with the bigger engine) are quite rare world-wide even. Then after all the turmoil in eastern Europe of the time sales ceased after that year. Why that history? There were two 135 GLi's sold in Calgary that year, and I had the chance to buy both of them! This would be about five years ago now I think.

By that time the same person owned both of them and had them for sale for $2,000 grand total. I took a look at them and was sorely tempted, and thought long and hard about buying them, unfortunately it never happened. Just out of curiosity recently I went by the house to see if the cars were still visible but saw no evidence of them.

In the meantime still stuck with my rather pedestrian Camry, rather than something interesting *sigh*

i am waiting for top gear to have Yugo races,

and see how many pieces are left attached at the end

Yugo could also be LADAS......
