Got’a admit it – he did a pretty good job and didn’t whine or moan the way he normally does when I ask him to clean his room or take the trash out. Hey the kid needed money and I needed someone to dish out orders to.

All told it was a pretty daunting job for someone to tackle by themselves and only slightly less difficult for two. Let alone a old Xtra salty (creaky kneed) Field Engineer like myself and his video game generation son.

The job was a decommissioning of an old US Customs Cargo x-ray system and my task was the de-installation of all the x-ray equipment and any related hazmat stuff before demolition starts. Anyway we had to pull all the stuff pictured below out of the basement of this system with nothing but a couple static hand wenches positioned over two very “tight trapdoors”.

It’s all good – I needed some help and my son needed some money. Part of which would go towards that camera I had to buy him for his photography class I was asking about in another thread.

Who knows – I think the kid might do alright.

Bret, good for you! your son looks to be a good stappy young man, did the same with our son in my business he never complained worked his bum off and understood the gratification of the monetary rewards for his good work, he can now build an entire house on his own if he wanted to, since he graduated with a business degree hes running the trucking end of moms shipping business much lighter work, i made sure his experience working with me would compel him to stay in school, ya scared me for a second thought you was gonna post pictures of ya twins draggin those sheets of diamond plate around. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Glad the day went well and your son stepped up. I know you were wondering how it was going to turn out, so I'm glad it was a good experience.

The inadvertent innuendo from the above typo made me chuckle, though. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Ah drop you guys - I bet you gave an apple to your teachers every day didn't you?

Anyway here's a shot some might get a kick out of;

My old 4x4 Supercrew F150 worth maybe $10-13K (KBB private party sale) with about $120-160 Grand worth of industrial x-ray tubes.

Hmmm? I wonder if I should bump up the asking price when I get ready to sell the truck? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Bret

You could always trade those for the flux capacitor on the internet.
